My Design Thinking

Every solution to a problem has a different dance and flow, which is why I love and enjoy this career field so much. Every situation is unique and involves creativity and thinking outside the box for solutions. Users' needs are essential, but business needs are just as important. Finding that happy balance is a great feeling.

The ideal solution flow (black) versus what can happen (light blue). And this doesn't even cover everything!

About Me

Hi! I’m Katherine Jensen, but you can call me Kat. I’m a UX/Product Designer with 6+ years of experience across product design, graphic design, marketing, and photography. I’m passionate about building user-friendly, visually engaging digital experiences that solve real problems and create meaningful impact.

Right now, I’m wrapping up my Master of Science at Full Sail University (graduating July 2025). I’m deepening my technical skill set with a Computer Programming Specialist certification starting this August (2025) —focused on JavaScript, Python, SQL, Java, and more. I’m also pursuing the CompTIA Network+ certification to better understand the infrastructure that supports secure, efficient digital systems.

My goal is to bridge the gap between design and development, especially in mission-driven environments where thoughtful, human-centered design supports real-world outcomes. I bring a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a foundation in design thinking, user research, and data integration to every project.

Outside of work, I’m a fitness enthusiast with a kinesiology and exercise science background, a mother of two, and a lifelong learner who thrives on curiosity and growth. Whether I’m designing for users, supporting a project, or solving a creative challenge, I show up with heart, strategy, and a deep respect for the people behind the product.
